Details of Event

Deceased was engaged in removing overburden which was 9 feet in thickness, and consisted of glacial drift (clay and sand). It was undercut about 1 foot 6 inches near the bottom. The was starting to load a tub when about 3 tons fell from the face partially burying him and crushing him against the tub. He received severe injuries to the chest and lungs, from which he died on July 8th.
