Locally known as ‘Cumberland Harry’, deceased was standing on a scaffold in a sinking pit when he slipped through the centre opening and fell about 86 feet into 7 feet of water in the sump. He was rendered unconscious by the fall and, although recovered in about 10 minutes, he was drowned.
