Deceased was engaged in ripping the roof in a level in the Seven Feet Banbury Coal (inclination 40 degrees), in order to widen a shunt. He was pulling with a ringer at some loose jagged rock at the deep side, when a shell of rock about 7ft. being, 4 or 5ft. wide, and 5ins. thick at one end, tailing out to nothing, fell from the reef above him. Before commencing, he had examined the roof carefully and considered it safe
