He was scraping the kirvings out of the kirving made by a coal cutting machine when a stone 5 feet long by 4.5 feet wide by 17 inches thick at one side and tapering to a feather edge at the other fell from between the two planks and injured his spine He died on 2nd August. The face was timbered with planks 5 feet apart this distance for the future will be reduced to four feet.
