- 7 August 1915: KELTY MINER INJURED. While engaged in his duties as roadsman in Aitken Pit, Blyth, John Stevenson, residing in Kelty, had his leg broken and severely crushed. He had been engaged in repairing some of the numerous lines underground when a piece of stone fell from the roof. After being conveyed to the surface his injuries were attended to Dr Moir.
