The deceased was putting in a seam 3 feet thick, which is worked longwall, the coal being undercut by a coal-cutter. Gates are 30 yards apart, and the tub is taken along the face. He was pushing a tub along the face when a large stone fell from between props on to him. The filler did not hear the roof working, and the deputy said the roof was sound two hours before the accident.
